Students for Public Interest Law

Students for Public Interest Law (SPIL), founded in 1989, is an Associate Member of the National Association for Public Interest Law (NAPIL). SPIL was organized to further our law school's commitment to providing legal services in the public interest sector.

SPIL organizes and participates in numerous community service and pro bono activities to provide students with experience in public interest law. SPIL also organizes the Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP) study guide and used book sales.

The organization’s biggest event is the Annual SPIL Live and Silent Auction, held in the spring semester. Each year, the SPIL Auction raises money to provide summer stipends to students who take unpaid legal positions in the public interest sector. Last year’s auction raised approximately $27,000 awarding 20 summer stipends for students in public interest. The theme of this year’s auction is Hollywood Red Carpet and will be held on February 17, 2017. Please join us for what will be a great event for a worthy cause.

Please contact our 2016-2017 co-Presidents Caroline Mrohs or Maggie O'Neill with any questions or comments.
